Embark on an Adventure to Explore a 5th Century Sky Fortress and More in Sri Lanka

Join us on a journey to the past as we explore the magnificent fortress of King Kashyapa, built on top of Lion's Rock in the 5th century. The palace was designed for both comfort and defense, with ramparts and moats surrounding it. As we explore the unique rock formation, we'll also visit the Sigiriya Craft Village, established in 2003. This village features 48 stalls where local craftsmen sell their handmade goods, including batiks, brass-works, handloom textiles, wood carvings, and silver jewelry.

Visitors can even witness the artisans at work, making this a perfect stop to pick up an authentic souvenir. Next, we'll proceed to Matale to visit a Spice Garden. Spices have been one of Sri Lanka's most celebrated exports for centuries, used for medicine, cosmetics, and flavoring foods. The garden also provides the foundation for traditional Ayurveda. The Greeks, Arabs, and Malays were just a few of the civilizations that traded with Sri Lanka for spices, making it a historical and cultural landmark.

Finally, we'll arrive in Kandy for a city tour, including a visit to the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha. This temple is one of the most sacred sites to Buddhists around the world. During the tour, we'll cover the Upper Lake Drive, the Art and Craft Center, and attend a cultural show.

Day 03 - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya

Explore the Beauty of Peradeniya Botanical Gardens and Nuwara Eliya

Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at Hotel Visit Peradeniya Botanical Gardens. Situated on the banks of the Mahaveli River, this garden was initially built as a pleasure garden during the British colonial era. Today, it boasts a wide variety of plants, including spices, medicinal plants, orchids, and palm trees. Take a leisurely stroll through the green lawns, and discover the flower arches that eagerly await your arrival. Don't miss the giant Javan tree, which is perfect for a rest and photo opportunity. You can also walk across the suspension bridge, which is a highlight of the garden. As you leave, the memories of this flourishing garden will stay with you forever.

Next, you'll head to Nuwara Eliya, passing Ramboda Waterfalls along the way. The waterfall consists of two tiers and is 109 meters high, making it the 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka and the 729th highest in the world. Most tourists only visit the upper waterfall and overlook the lower one, so be sure to visit both. Once you arrive in Nuwara Eliya, you'll discover that it is the heart of the tea industry. Tea bushes cover the rolling hills, creating a beautiful tapestry interspersed with Eucalyptus, Albesia, and other trees. You can observe tea pluckers working on the slopes, each clad in colorful sarees. Tea has been one of Sri Lanka's major exports for decades.

Take a city tour of Nuwara Eliya, known for its spring-like weather year-round. The town was a favorite retreat for the British during colonial times and is dotted with English country-style houses and half-timbered bungalows. During the city tour, visit Victoria Park, a beautiful and well-maintained oasis popular with birdwatchers.

You'll also have the opportunity to visit Gregory Lake, constructed during the period of British Governor Sir William Gregory in 1873. Don't forget to explore the golf courses in Nuwara Eliya Town.
