Wilpattu National Park is one of the country's largest and oldest national parks home to a diverse range of flora and fauna, including several endemic species that are unique to Sri Lanka.
Wilpattu is particularly known for its population of leopards, which are often spotted by visitors on game drives. The park is also home to several other large mammals, including elephants, sloth bears, and water buffalo, as well as many species of birds and reptiles.
Visitors to Wilpattu National Park can enjoy a range of activities, including game drives, birdwatching, and nature walks.
If you're planning on visiting the park, one of the best ways to experience it is through a day safari. During the day safari, you'll have the opportunity to explore the park with an experienced guide who will take you to the best spots for wildlife sightings. The safari usually lasts for around 4-5 hours, giving you plenty of time to see as much as possible.
ITINERARY
4:00 - Pick up from your hotel around Colombo, Mount Lavinia,Negombo and Waikkal
07:00 - You can start your morning game drive and have your packed breakfast once you get at the park.
12:30 - Lunch will be served to you in a nice location of the park.
13:30 - Enjoy your afternoon Game drive. The safari experience in Wilpattu is quite distinct from that in any other significant national park. Even during peak tourist season, the number of visitors is still quite low, and it's not uncommon for there to just be a few tourist jeeps in the park at any given moment.
18:00 - You will be dropped at your hotel.
