This encounter led to the King's conversion to Buddhism and the creation of numerous religious structures, including a refectory, hospital, and 68 caves. This expansive complex is home to a wealth of archaeological and architectural marvels, including colossal dagobas (brick stupas), ancient pools, and weathered temples. These structures were erected during Anuradhapura's millennium-long reign over Sri Lanka.
