Day 01 - Airport | Kalutara

Once you arrive at the airport, a representative will greet you and guide you to your hotel in Kalutara.

In the afternoon embark on a mangrove boat ride along the Madu River in Balapitiya. Exploring the Beauty and Biodiversity of Balapitiya Balapitiya is a place where you can witness the captivating combination of ecology and culture under the warmth of the sun.

Begin your adventure by cruising down the Madu River, the lifeline of Balapitiya, towards Kotu Duwa. Here you will find a small island that houses a temple dating back to the time of ancient Sinhalese kings.

Another option is to sail through tunnels of shady mangroves that sway alongside the Madu River, harboring an ecological treasure trove. Here you can witness the tranquility of a biodiversity hotspot, home to reptiles, mollusks, and over 70 species of freshwater fish. Apart from the natural wonders, Balapitiya is also renowned for its cinnamon plantations and unique "fish pedicure centers" where fish nibble away the dead skin cells from your feet.

Additionally, birdwatchers will find a haven in Balapitiya, with the opportunity to observe the many species of avifauna that frequent the area during an offshore expedition.

From Turyaa Kalutara, we will begin our day with a delicious breakfast before heading to Colombo for a city and shopping tour.

Colombo, the commercial hub of Sri Lanka, is an exciting city where eastern and western cultures blend together in a melting pot. For those keen on shopping, you will find many designer brands, accessories, jewellery, clothing, and handicrafts at places like Arcade Independence Square, the Colombo Racecourse, and the Dutch Hospital. Other attractions worth visiting include the BMICH (Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall), which hosts various exhibitions throughout the year, the Nelum Pokuna performance centre, the Gangarama Temple, and Pettah, a bustling area that is one of the best locations for bargaining shopping.

Once done with your exploration, head to the airport to connect to your flight or Colombo hotel.
